Member States have endorsed the agreement reached with the European Parliament on the pilot regime for market infrastructures based on distributed ledger technology (DLT) that the European Commission had proposed as part of its Digital Finance Package in September 2020. The pilot regime will allow market participants to safely experiment with DLT to issue, trade and settle securities. The experiences gained from this pilot will inform future policy-making and could potentially lead to more wide-ranging changes.
