The European Commission is preparing to further develop the EU Digital Finance Platform. One key novelty will be a new Data hub - a space where we are planning to make available non-public, non-personal data to innovative financial firms seeking to test new products and applications in close contact with supervisors. Given that national supervisors in particular are often prevented from sharing data due to confidentiality requirements, the plan is to build the Data hub using synthetic data. Using centrally procured services, supervisory authorities - as well as other data sources, such as market participants - will be able to synthesise the real data they hold and share that synthetic data on the Data hub.
